The seventh edition of ArtPrize kicks off today in downtown Grand Rapids and as usual, there’s plenty of family-friendly fun to be had at the enormous art competition.
Round up the kids and plan your ArtPrize adventure by incorporating some of these events the whole family will enjoy.
Make your own scavenger hunt. Download this fun family activity sheet and search for art together.
Go on a treasure hunt. ArtPrize has partnered with Founders Brewing Co. for the first-ever #FoundersKeepers – an epic treasure hunt through each of seven ArtPrize neighborhoods. Find a tin tacker, and you’ll win a $25 Founders gift card.
Make art together. Thursdays at the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum are Family Art Nights and will feature reduced admission and a chance for families to collaborate on art they can take home.
Take a tour. ArtPrize Family Tours will take place at the Fed Galleries of Kendall College of Art and Design. This is a great way for families to learn more about contemporary art entries.
Create weekend art. The Grand Rapids Art Museum is hosting drop-in family Saturdays and Sundays, where families can work together on art projects.
Participate in Kids ArtFest. Kids rule on Saturday, Sept. 27 outside of the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, which will feature art stations, performances, and more. All outdoor activities are free.
Read up on art. Everyone’s welcome to stop in the Grand Rapids Public Library’s ArtPrize Reading Room during open hours to explore their collection of art books and resources.
ArtPrize round one voting begins today at noon! Download the free ArtPrize mobile app and plan your visit. Make sure to stop by the ArtPrize HUB for official merchandise and to see last year’s winning entry.
