Approaching a Milestone Birthday? It Could Be a Life-Changing Year for You

If you were born in a year ending in six – 1966, 1976, 1986, etc. – 2015 might be your best year ever.
New research finds that people who are about to enter a new decade are more likely to make big life decisions or changes, as part of a search for meaning and an arbitrary sense of the importance of round numbers.
People who are 29, 39, 49, and so on, tend to view their upcoming “big” birthday as a chance for self-reflection. Not content with what they’ve accomplished, so-called “nine-enders” are more likely to buy a house, run their first marathon, go back to school, and invest in retirement savings or life insurance.
Sadly, the same self-reflection that might make you take control of your life in a positive way could also make you more likely to engage in an extramarital affair or even take your own life.
If 30, 40, 50, or 60 is in your not-too-distant future, take this time to think about everything you have accomplished in your life and what’s still left to do on your list. Would you like to take a big trip? Is this the year you’ll finally commit to losing weight or quitting smoking? Is it time to further your education or pick up a new skill, hobby, or language?
Instead of despairing over what you haven’t accomplished yet, use this time of self-reflection to put a game plan in place to reach your smallest goals, wildest dreams, and everything in between.
Thirty, forty, and fifty certainly aren’t the end of the world and could just be the catalyst you need for new beginnings. If your new-decade goals include major health improvements, definitely sign up for #HealthyMe to stay on track.
