What is SMART Goal Setting?

Your outlook and approach to goal-setting can determine whether or not you accomplish those goal.
If you’re really serious about achieving your goals, make them SMART. SMART is an acronym that includes each of the following components:
Specific
Measurable
Attainable
Realistic
Timeline-oriented
Measurable
Attainable
Realistic
Timeline-oriented
Here is an example of SMART-goal setting: “Every Sunday through Thursday, I am going to work out at the gym for 45 minutes each day. I will life weights each Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday and I will engage in cardiovascular activity each Monday and Wednesday.”
5 Healthy Habits
Try incorporating these healthy habits into your everyday life and routine:
- Get moving! Increase your daily steps.
- Decrease the amount of unhealthy snacks.
- Shop smarter and healthier by reading nutrition labels at the grocery store to make better choices.
- Eat a variety of fruits and vegetables every day.
- Drink plenty of water (approximately 64 ounces a day).
The Next Five Years
When making long-term plans, build on your successes and focus on achievable goals like increasing your daily movement and improving your dietary habits.
