A lemon is one of the most versatile and underrated fruits around. It’s not only nutritious and delicious, but can also be used to rejuvenate your body. This little citric fruit can be found bobbing in your drink and baking in your favorite cake. From lying on your plate as garnish, to being smeared across your face to tighten up those wrinkles.
Lemons pack a lot more power than you’d think; they might even be something like a super fruit.
Nutrients
- Lemons are chalked full of vitamins and nutrients that your body craves.
- Lemons are high in vitamin C; look out oranges.
- Fiber, B-vitamins, some calcium and proteins are in there as well.
Body boosters
Loose the coffee and kick that 2 o’clock slump by drinking lemon water in the morning for a natural energy boost. Lemon water also reduces anxiety that you might get from drinking other forms of caffeine.
Trying to lose a little weight? A cup of warm lemon water may not seem like an enticing combo, but the fiber in lemons works well for shedding a few pounds. It will help to regulate your digestive system and curb your hunger sensations.
Boosting your immune system is one of the best features that the lemon has to offer. Here comes that vitamin C again. Your body uses those vitamins to fight small viral infections like a cold, or a sore throat.
Lemon juice helps with high blood pressure because it removes rigidity, and makes it easier for the blood to flow.
The vitamin C in lemons helps to strengthen eyesight by preventing certain eye conditions with its antioxidants.
Homemade remedies
Lemons can come in handy and be used for all kinds at home remedies.
Making your own homemade facial is a cinch. A few drops of lemon juice mixed with a table spoon of honey, are all that’s needed to tighten your skin and reduce blemishes.
A lemon slice can be massaged directly onto your scalp to help take care of dandruff. The citric acid helps get rid of it straight from the root of your hair follicle.
Keeping your lips smooth can be tricky but spending $3 on a new chap stick every time you lose the old one, is a thing of the past. Soothing chapped lips is made easier by just mixing lemon juice and castor oil together. Leave this mixture on your lips at night and wipe it off in the morning to reveal soft, moisturized lips.
Manicure time? A mixture of lemon juice and olive oil strengthen nails and makes them shine.
The lemon is quite the hidden gem in your refrigerator drawer.
