Shark Week is an exciting time for marine enthusiasts and television viewers alike. As you settle in to watch shark documentaries and captivating underwater adventures, it’s likely snacks are part of that equation.
Here are some sea-inspired snacks for a sharkcuterie board – sharkcuterie, get it? – to enhance your viewing experience:
Seaweed Snacks
Crispy seaweed snacks are low-calorie treats that are packed with nutrients like vitamins A and C, calcium and magnesium. Seaweed snacks are available for purchase in various flavors, including wasabi, sesame and sea salt, providing a satisfying and guilt-free crunch.
Easy Homemade Sushi Rolls
Making your own sushi rolls is easier than you may think. All you need is a bag of microwavable sticky rice, nori sheets and any desired filling. While a sushi roller is a great tool, it’s not necessary for a tasty aftermath. Try one of these beginner-friendly combinations that doesn’t use raw fish:
- Spicy Philly Roll – smoked salmon, cream cheese and jalapeño strips
- Avocado Shrimp Roll – cooked shrimp, avocado slices and green onion
- California Roll – imitation crab sticks and cucumber strips
Simply roll up the contents, seal the end by rubbing with your finger that’s been dipped in cold water, then slice the rolls into bite-sized pieces. Serve with low-sodium soy sauce or a tangy ginger dipping sauce. These sushi rolls provide essential vitamins, minerals and fiber, making them a wholesome snack option.
Veggies
Fill the rest of your board with veggies such as carrots, peppers, cucumbers and snap peas along with your favorite dips. For more themed ideas, slice your veggies into shark fins or other sea-inspired shapes.
