These Are a Few of My Favorite Things: My List For Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle

We all have a list of favorite things, an inner compiled inventory of things that makes us feel good. Sometimes an old favorite thing will be replaced with a new one, even though we weren’t intending for that to happen. New experiences come with day-to-day life, and when we’re asked to use a pen and paper in order to compile a list, we often have to really stop and think what these things are… now.
Oprah Winfrey compiles a list of her favorite things every year, which really excites the audience members since they can assume that they will be receiving each of the items she reveals. I wish I could do the same, but honestly, my list of favorites isn’t as exciting, since I’m just an ordinary mother of three from a small Michigan town who hasn’t experienced the lifestyle of the rich and famous like Oprah. I will claim that Ford vehicles are at the top of my list, I prefer silver jewelry over gold, and Michael Kors is my favorite clothing designer, but that isn’t the kind of list that the people who I talk with care about.
They care about a list that contributes to a healthy lifestyle, things that I use to help me maintain my 162-pound weight loss! This is a list that I love to share — and even though I can’t give you these items like Oprah would, I can tell you that they are all affordable and easy to find at a store near you. So without further ado…
My List of Healthy Lifestyle Favorites
Pedometer: OMRON — They are simple to use and very accurate, and they don’t fall off like others do.
Walking Shoes: RYKA — they are the only brand shoes I’ve found that don’t hurt my feet after walking 10,000 steps daily and honestly, I don’t want to take them off… ever. (Plus they look great!)
Athletic Attire: ADIDAS — They fit perfectly, wash up great, no fading, and last a long, long time!
Granola Bars: SUNBELT — Low-fat oatmeal raisin chewy granola bars are amazing; I have one every single day within the first 5 minutes of waking up. Only 140 calories each.
Bread: Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Grain — Cinnamon raisin is not only my favorite, but the family favorite. Two pieces of this bread toasted with a thin layer of peanut butter not only tastes great but gives me an extra energy boost and increases productivity … I love it!
Peanut Butter: All Natural Peanut Butter and Co. is my newest favorite item. My daughter convinced me to try their Cinnamon Raisin Swirl but warned me I’d be hooked. She was right! Only 160 calories per serving and six ingredients, that’s it … and they are NATURAL!
Tea: Lipton flavored green teas are all amazing! I have a cupboard full of them! And green tea has numerous health benefits.
Snacks: Seapoint Farms dry roasted edamame, lightly salted… oooh, so good! And any brand of low-fat microwave popcorn, it all tastes the same to me!
Fruits & Veggies: McIntosh apples, nectarines, cantaloupe, Concord grapes with seeds, cauliflower, green bell peppers, basically anything from Fruit Acres, a farm market and U-Pick in Coloma.
Well, there you have it, my list, which can change by this time next year, depending on who shares what information with me!
