People throughout Michigan are making changes towards better health, I seem to be witnessing it wherever I go. They are taking the initiative to get outdoors to play with their kids, taking walks with their friends, riding bikes with their spouse, the list is endless. It’s great to see that the MI Healthier Tomorrow movement has caught on and countless people are doing their part to make our state healthier.
As Michiganders are focusing on more daily activity, they are also increasing their awareness of healthier food choices. It’s exciting, to say the least!
In fact, I’m pretty certain that you may have noticed the increase in healthy recipe sharing through social media sources in recent months. I feel that it’s a great way to allow others to learn of new ways to prepare healthy food items that don’t particularly taste very exciting alone but when added to a few other items, they not only excite the taste buds but establish a love for ‘good-for-you’ foods that can last a lifetime.
Here are two of my recent healthy recipes favorites that are not only delicious, but will also give you a boost of energy so you will be more apt to achieve your daily physical activity goals.
Guilt Free “Cookie Dough” Greek Yogurt

1 tbsp all natural peanut butter
1-2 tsp stevia (or any sweetener)

¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 single serving, 6 oz. container of plain Greek yogurt
1-2 tsp stevia (or any sweetener)
1 tbs mini dark chocolate chips
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 single serving, 6 oz. container of plain Greek yogurt
Directions
Mix it all together and enjoy. To make more like ice cream freeze for at least 30min.
The next recipe comes from the “Today” show co-anchor Al Roker, who knows a thing or two about healthy eating. Al lost 115 lbs. a few years ago and has developed a healthy lifestyle, which includes exercise and good food choices. I happened to try Al’s smoothie recipe and found that I absolutely love it! Try it yourself and you may agree with me on this one:
