A recent UK poll has shown that spouses are much less likely to exercise than divorcees or those who lead the single life. The results are pretty staggering: Out of those who didn’t get the recommended weekly dose of exercise, 76 percent were married men, and only slightly less, 63 percent, were married women.
But is this really so surprising? There’s a reason that people commonly joke about how married people “let themselves go.” This is scientific evidence for that age-old joke.
Just because you’re in a couple is no reason to start letting your health suffer. Not getting your recommended amount of exercise can have serious consequences.
So what should you do? Exercise together!
Working out with your partner can be a great motivator because you can cheer each other on and strengthen your bond by helping each other improve.
Here are just a few of the great physical activities you can do with your significant other:
- Jog, walk or go for a hike
- Try dancing lessons, which let you work out and have fun at the same time
- Or you can find a simple couples exercise routine online
There are plenty of things you can do together; the most important part is just getting started! So what are you waiting for? Start exercising together for a healthier body and a better relationship!
Do you have any great ideas for couple’s exercises? In what way can you help each other get motivated?
