Lansing’s Silver Bells in the City celebration attracts over 80,000 people every year and the festivities are almost here.
If you’re planning to be in the capital city for the fun, don’t miss out on these marquee highlights:
- Shopping at The Village: Buy your commemorative ornament, grab a bite to eat, and get a start on your holiday shopping all while supporting local vendors.
- The Electric Light Parade celebrates 20 years in 2016. Watch the sparkle of thousands of lights adorning floats and marching bands alike. Santa Claus will also arrive in town, making his debut during the parade, which begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18.
- Lighting of the Tree and Fireworks: Stick around after the parade to watch the lighting of Michigan’s official state Christmas tree, which will be followed by fireworks over the Michigan Capitol dome.
- Silver Bells 5K: Run or walk, but don’t forget to wear a festive costume to this fun, family-friendly race on Saturday, Nov. 19. The event benefits the Chris and Louise Holman Foundation and is sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network. Register here or on-site the morning of the event.
- Breakfast with Santa: Take the kids for a pancake breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus at Troppo. They’ll enjoy decorating cookies and holiday arts and crafts. Find more details here.
