Winter. The time of year when we feel like we are continually trying to fight off the latest virus making its way around schools, daycare centers and the workplace. After years of trying to avoid sinus infection after sinus infection, there are a few products that I can’t live without in the winter.
Clorox Disinfecting Wipes – . I buy them in bulk, keep them everywhere and use them every day. At the end of the day I wipe down my computer, desk, phone and work space at my job. At home, I use them in my kitchen, my kid’s playroom, the bedrooms and bathrooms. They are great to wipe down remotes, toys, etc.
The Neti-pot – If you don’t have one, get one. You can pick one up at your local drug store for about ten dollars. Use it for nasal dryness, post nasal drip, sinus pressure and nasal congestion. If I feel a cold coming on I use my Neti-pot just to rinse out the nasal passages. Even though you look completely ridiculous using it, it’s worth it.
Vicks VapoRub – Besides the fact that I love the smell, this stuff really helps clear up my stuffy nose and chest congestion. You may have heard about putting it on your feet with socks at night to relieve your cough. I’ve tried it and it worked for me. I have also used the children’s VapoRub on my son for his cough, and it helped him as well.
Puffs® with Vicks – Again, not just because I love the smell and it’s soft on the nose, the vapors help me breathe easier with a stuffy or runny nose.
Boogie Wipes – for parents who have a young child like mine who doesn’t like blowing his nose, or the saline drops, these are the best invention ever. It seems like my son has a runny nose all winter long. These are wipes with saline so it’s easy on the nose for the kiddies, and great for keeping the inside moist as it dissolves the boogies and mucus. While they can be pricey compared to a box of Kleenex, it’s so worth it. They come in Great Grape, Fresh Scent, Minty Menthol and Simply Unscented.
What are your must have products to help you feel healthy in the winter?
