Visit Turnip Rock and Port Crescent State Park

If you’re into sightseeing, add Turnip Rock to your trip itinerary. A unique rock formation located in the waters of Lake Huron, Turnip Rock is best seen during the warmer months while paddleboarding or kayaking on your own or on a guided tour. The Broken Rocks Water Trail also offers scenic views as you paddle along the shore. Along the way, you can explore small sea caves, drift past layered rock formations and stop to swim in calm coves. The trail takes less than two hours and is a great way to combine adventure with peaceful moments on the water.
Aside from the beauty of Lake Huron, you can also enjoy the sky by birdwatching or stargazing at Port Crescent State Park, which is conveniently located near Turnip Rock. This scenic park sits along the shoreline and offers trails for hiking, spots for fishing and space for camping. It’s a great place to relax and take in nature whether you’re spending the day or staying overnight. At night, the park becomes a perfect place to stargaze. It’s a designated Dark Sky Preserve with clear views and little light pollution.
