Summer is the perfect time to travel. Take advantage of the warm weather and cool water by checking out some of these scenic locations:
- Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore– One of Michigan’s coolest natural attractions is Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore, located in the Upper Peninsula. Hop in a kayak and paddle your way just off shore to see some breathtaking views. Take a picture as the sun peaks over the edge of the rocks- the perfect summertime image.
- Port Austin– Have you ever seen a tree growing out of a rock in the middle of a lake? In Port Austin you can! Turnip Rock is a large rock formation located off the coast of Port Austin. Kayak out to the rock and discover the weathering patterns that have broken down the rock over the years. Of course, take a picture while you’re there to show off its natural beauty.
- Belle Isle– Belle Isle is a small island located in the Detroit River. Not only is it home to the Grand Prix, but it also has a beach, aquarium and arboretum on it. Lay on the beach or visit the aquarium or arboretum to get out of the heat. Capture the beauties of nature when you snap a picture.
- Lansing ARTpath– During the summer, Lansing creates an ARTpath featuring pieces from local artists. The 3.5 mile stretch along the Lansing River Trail becomes decorated with sculptures, paintings and collages. Take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the art while snapping a picture of your favorite art piece.
- Mackinac Island Arch Rock– Arch Rock stands high on the edge of the island overlooking Lake Huron. When you visit, you can see the lake through the large arch formed naturally in the limestone. Use the arch to frame your shot as you stand hundreds of feet above the water.
- Torch Lake– Located just a few miles outside of Traverse City is Torch Lake, an 18-mile long body of water known for its crystal clear waters and relaxing environment. Any picture near the lake will give you a bright blue backdrop to show off one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.
